Pauline S. (Trok) Rockhill, 90, of South Bend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 22, 2023 from an extended illness.
Pauline was born on April 12, 1933 in Salyersville, Kentucky to the late Linville and Amy (Howard) Whitaker. On June 26, 1954, in South Bend, she married Donald L. Trok and together they built a beautiful home and raised three children, Lisa, Brandon, and Gregg. They shared 37 years of marriage until his passing on December 30, 1991. On April 17, 1993, in South Bend, Pauline married Allan “Rocky” Rockhill. They shared 28 years of marriage until his passing on March 6, 2022. Pauline was retired from Memorial Hospital in South Bend as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Pauline stayed very active. She enjoyed bowling, dancing, riding her bicycle, playing golf and traveling. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Post 357 and a member of Bowler’s Country Club. Pauline’s favorite past time was spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed time in her yard and flower beds, collecting antiques (Fenton baskets!), refinishing furniture, gospel music, and reading novels.
Pauline is survived by her daughter, Lisa K. (David) Sexton of South Bend and by her sons, Brandon D. Trok of South Bend and Gregg A. (Kimberly) Trok of South Bend and by her 7 loving grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her step-daughter Terry L. (David) Johnson of Fort Wayne, and by her step-son Jeffery A. Rockhill of Lebanon, TN and a brother-in-law George Gyori of Granger and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husbands, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Jean Gyori, Christine Nowaczewski, Aileen Davison, and Maxine Szucs and by a brother Robert “Blue Rock” Whitaker.
A Private service will take place at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home, 23421 State Road 23, with burial to follow in the Sumption Prairie Cemetery on Wednesday, July 26, 2023.
