Peggy J. Bellinger, 94, formerly of Walkerton, passed away in the morning of Monday, September 25, 2023, at Hubbard Hill Estates in Elkhart, from an extended illness.
Peggy was born on March 25, 1929 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to the late Carl and Ruby (Baumgardner) Parsell. On September 1, 1951, she married John K. Bellinger. They shared 69 years of marriage until his passing on September 18, 2020. Together they built and owned the Whispering Pines Golf Course, in Walkerton, for nearly 20 years, where she developed her love for golfing. Peggy and John moved to Florida for their retirement, residing there for 20 years before returning to the area in 2017 to be closer to family. Peggy was also a Realtor with Century 21 Real Estate Company for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed hunting for antiques to add to her antique collection and playing games of Mahjong.
Peggy is survived by her two grandchildren, Giavonna Bellinger of South Bend, and Eric S. (Nicole) Bellinger of South Bend, and by her three great-grandchildren, Corey Bellinger, Kayleigh Bellinger and Kaiden Bridegroom. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Angela Bellinger of South Bend, by her sister, Marilyn Gross of Canada, and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Gregory S. Bellinger, by her granddaughter, Rachel Dombrow, and by her sister, Patty Parsell.
The family is following Peggy’s wishes to be cremated. There will be a graveside service at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Walkerton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Peggy can be made to the Pet Refuge, 4626 S. Burnett Dr., South Bend, IN 46614, and to Humane Society of St. Joseph County, 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
