Phyllis J. Moffett

Phyllis J. Moffett, 80, of North Liberty, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023, in her home following an extended illness.

Phyllis was born on October 22, 1942 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan to the late Ronald C. and Elizabeth (Brinks) Springett.  Phyllis moved to the area in 1969.  On September 17, 1994, in South Bend, she married Richard B. Moffett. She was a secretary for The Ohio Casualty Insurance Company for 15 years until she retired.  She loved being outdoors gardening and taking care of their property. She enjoyed cooking meals and baking for her family.  She also enjoyed traveling to see new sites. Most of all, Phyllis loved spending time with her loving family and grandchildren. 

Phyllis is survived by her loving husband, Richard B. Moffett, by three sons, John Andrew (Irasema) Smith of Canyon Country, California, Scott H. (Joyce) Smith of South Bend, Cory G. (Jeanine) Smith of South Bend and two stepdaughters, Tanya L. (Michael) Ellis of South Bend, and Tara M. Foster of Rolling Prairie. She is also survived by 16 loving grandchildren, Monica, Jessica, Elvis, Ashley, Devon, Madison, Gayton, Gabe, Christopher, Ashley, Andrew, Canyon, Bryanna, Chelbi, Angaleyse, and Channing and 11 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ronnie Springett.

Phyllis’ family is following her wishes to be cremated with no service.  In honor of Phyllis’ life donations may be made to Pet Refuge, Inc, 4626 S. Burnett Dr., South Bend, IN 46614.
