Renatta “Rony” A. Deitsch, 97, of South Bend, passed away on Tuesday, May 19th in South Field Village. Rony was born on October 30, 1928 to Aloysius “Al” and Mary (Flowers) Kochanowski. On May 13, 1950, she married Delois “Doy” Deitsch, they celebrated 56 years of marriage until his death in 2006. She was preceded in death by her son, John Deitsch, her parents and sister, Myra Joachim.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Catherine Deitsch of South Bend, her grandson, Michael (Mandy) Marnocha and great-grandchildren, Emily, Lauren and Zachary all of Northville, Michigan.

Rony retired from Bendix (Honeywell) in 1978 after 30 years of service. She was active in community and service roles, including Bendix Local 9 Women’s Committee, YWCA Board of Directors, Mental Health Association Board of Directors. She was a wonderful cook and baker best known for her cherry pies, and sharing her baked goods with everyone in the neighborhood.

In 2018, she moved into the Southfield Village of South Bend. Rony loved her time there and Cathy and her family would like to thank all the caring staff dear friends she met there, who made her years there so special.

A Mass of Christian Burial is to be held on Friday, May 22nd at 11:00am at St. Matthew Cathedral, 1701 Miami St. with Fr. Andrew Budzinski officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00am until Mass time. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Sumption Prairie Cemetery of South Bend following the Mass.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Rony’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice or to the American Cancer Society. Hanley and Sons Funeral Home is assisting Rony’s family final arrangements and express deepest sympathy to all of her family and friends.
