Richard "Rick" Germaine Obituary

A Celebration of Life for Rick will be held on June 25th, 2022, from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the American Legion Post 189 in Walkerton for his family and friends.

Richard C. “Rick” Germaine, 67 of Walkerton, passed away on Sunday, March 20th at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, unexpectedly. Rick was born in LaPorte, IN to the late Delmar C. and Betty (Seitz) Germaine on October 22, 1954. He was a graduate of John Glenn High School and lived his whole life in Walkerton. On September 17, 1983, he married Cynthia J. (Bunch) Carbiener. He retired after many years as a factory worker. He was a member of Sons of American Legion Post 189 of Walkerton and the Local UAW. He had many nicknames going by Rick, ‘Krout’ and ‘Blue Man’. He was an avid Indianapolis Colt and Chicago Cubs Fan. He was a music fan enjoying all types, but especially Rock and Roll. Rick enjoyed playing pool (and was quite good), absolutely loved his swimming pool, and enjoyed a good political discussion. Yet his greatest joy came from being with family and his grandbabies, as well as his cats, Murphy, Margo and Bozo.

Rick is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 38 years, Cynthia, along with their children: Kimberly M. (Christopher) Clark of Spokane Valley, WA and Shane A. (Shelby) Carbiener of North Liberty, loving grandchildren: Kalee Davidson, Emily and Haiden Clark and Sidney Carbiener and great-granddaughter, Addilyn Bockerich. Also surviving are Rick’s sister, Joni Germaine of Indianapolis, In and brother, Thomas (Karin) Chudanov of San Antonio, TX.

Memorial contributions may be made to either, Pet Refuge of South Bend, 4626 Burnette Drive, South Bend, IN 46614 or to a charity of your choice.
