Roberta Dill Obituary

Roberta “Birdie” Dill, 85, of North Liberty, Indiana passed away on the morning of April 25th in the Memorial Hospital of South Bend.

“Birdie” was born to Robert Warren an Audrey Maxine (Derflinger) Lonzo on August 31, 1938, in LaPorte, Indiana. After graduating high school, she married the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Dill, in North Liberty on August 31, 1956. They shared 67 years together before his passing in 2017. She was a homemaker and took to being active in her community in many ways. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, North Liberty Chapter, the Ladies Auxillary at American Legion Post 365, and served for many years as the NL-Greene Alumni Coordinator. She was an Indian Guides leader, a member of the Rainbow Girls, and 8&40 Group. She was proud to be a living and non-living donor.

Birdie is survived by her children, Rusti Chlebowski, Rami (Lori) Dill and Robert Dill all of North Liberty; nine grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren all whom she loved and cherished. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Walter Cole. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Rhonda, son-in-law, Kevin Chlebowski and her brother, Rick.

Birdie enjoyed working puzzles, tending to her vegetables in her garden, going on cruises yet her greatest joy came from being with family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, whom will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2024, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home “Southwest Chapel” located at State Road 23/W. Ireland Road, South Bend.  She will be laid to rest with her husband in the Eastlawn Cemetery, North Liberty.
