Samuel H. Freet, 89, of Lapaz, passed away on Sunday morning May 3rd at the Center for Hospice “Raclin House” in Mishawaka after an extended illness.
Sam was born in Mishawaka, Indiana on January 6, 1937 to Samuel W. and Clara L. (Mrozinsky) Freet. He was a life-long area resident. He married the love of his life, Donna L. Day, on September 14, 1957, in Mishawaka. They shared sixty-eight wonderful years together. Sam and his brothers worked in the construction field in Phoenix, Arizona before they started their own company, Wynot Custom Builders. He enjoyed bull and horseback riding and camping, “a true cowboy”, yet his greatest joy was being in the company of his loving family.
Sam is survived by he loving wife Donna Freet, along with their children, Jenny L. Freet of Lapaz, Jess A. Freet of Mishawaka and Jerry L. Freet of North Liberty. He was the proud grandfather of Paige, Jesse, and Faith, and the great grandfather of Aleecia Abrell and Grace Jaworski. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Betty Goodsell, Annabell Jewell, and Lou Blasko along with his brothers, Herbert ‘Bud’ Freet and Raymond, and John R. Freet.
As per Sam’s wishes cremation is to take place with burial to take place at a later date in the Tyner Cemetery. Hanley and Sons Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements and extend deepest sympathy to all of Sam’s family and friends.
