Sandra Close Obituary

Sandra I. (Beaulieu) Close passed away in her home, following an extended illness, on Friday, February 4th with her son by her side.

Sandra was born on February 22, 1947, in Caribou, Maine to the late Stepson Douglas Beaulieu and Irene S. Lau. On February 14th, 1984, in South Bend, Sandra married George A. “Art” Close. Art passed away December 7, 2018. She is survived by her son, Ron (Karla) Baker, Jr. of South Bend, stepdaughters, Dawn Close of North Liberty and Lisa Maiki of South Bend along with 8 loving grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters, Marcia Simons of Sanford, Florida and Elizabeth Bailey of Orlando, Florida and brothers, Steve D. Beaulieu of Statesboro, Georgia and Brian S. Beaulieu of Cooper City, Florida. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Robert Henry in 2016.

She loved to go fishing but spending time with her grandchildren was what she loved, as well as being with friends. She was an auxiliary member of VFW Post 1954 and American Legion Post 365, both in North Liberty.

The family would like memorial contributions to be made in Sandra’s name to the VFW Post 1954, 66992 Tamarack Road, North Liberty, IN 46554 or to the American Legion Post 365, 308 Reed Street, North Liberty, IN 46554.

Cremation has taken place as Sandra had requested.

The Hanley and Sons Funeral Home handled arrangement and extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prays to Sandra’s family and friends.
