Stephen Lentsch Obituary

  Stephen M. Lentsch, 74, of Buchanan, MI formally of South Bend, passed away on Sunday, December 18th in his home following an extended illness, with his loving wife by his side.

  Stephen was born on November 3, 1948, in South Bend, IN to the late Martin J. and Helen Lentsch, former owners of Lentsch Bakery in South Bend. On March 24, 1973, in South Bend, he married Nancy J. Turner. Nancy survives along with their daughter, Jaime L. (Shane Farley) Heitmann and their son, Stephen M. (Felicia) Lentsch, Jr. both of Buchanan, MI, grandchildren, Ethan and Korrina Lentsch. Also surviving are his sisters-in-law: Sue Haringer of Rockport, TX, Trudy Ford of South Bend, Shelly Birkla and Cindy Birkla both of Mishawaka, IN and his brother, Matthew (Chris) J. Lentsch, of Three Rivers, MI and brother-in-law, John Turner of Mishawaka, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Martin J. Lentsch.

  Stephen was very proud to have served in the United States Marine Corp. He was the owner of Indiana Arms & Ammo, Inc in South Bend for numerous years, making numerous friends and police officers

   He was an avid pet lover, loved his dog, “Rommel” and being with his loving family and friends. Stephen recently gave his life to Christ.

   The family is following Stephen’s wishes, and cremation is to take place. The family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.

   Memorial contributions may be made in Stephen’s honor to Lakeland Hospice Caring Circle, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085.
