Theda K. (Kaser) Nixon, 77, of South Bend, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Center of Hospice Raclin House, with her loving family by her side.
Theda was born on June 18, 1945, to Howard M. Kaser and Reatha S. (Haelip) Kaser in Laporte, Indiana. Theda grew up on a farm in North Liberty. On August 31, 1963, in North Liberty, she married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, William “Bill” Nixon. They were about to celebrate their 59th wedding anniversary. Theda is survived by her loving husband, Bill, their son, Jon W. Nixon of Mishawaka, granddaughters, Alexis Shock of Mishawaka and Mallory Robinson of Bremen. She is also survived by her sister, Juanita Fisher of North Liberty, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Jill M. Nixon of Plymouth, her brothers, Carl H. Kaser of North Liberty, Dale L. Kaser of South Bend, and Dean E. Kaser of South Carolina.
Theda was a graduate of North Liberty High School, Class of 1963. Theda worked for Travelers Insurance Company for 4 years and INSOURCE (Indiana Resource Center for Families with Special Needs) for 33 years. She loved her job and all the people she worked with
Theda was a member of the Maple Grove United Methodist Church and served on various boards and committees. She loved working the annual Country Store and baked many pies and other goodies for the event. Bill and Theda loved traveling in their 5th wheel and spent many winters in Texas with great friends. She especially loved going to Padre Island and sitting on the beach. They also spent time in Florida and Gulf Shores, Alabama. Theda was a fun-loving person and always loved sharing a laugh or two.
A Celebration of Life honoring Theda will be held at the Maple Grove United Methodist Church, 22019 New Rd., South Bend, IN 46614, on 3:00pm, Saturday, September 10th with Rev. Mike Dixon officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 until 3:00pm in the church. She will be laid to rest in the Sumption Prairie Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes for memorial contribution be made in Theda’s name to Maple Grove UMC, 22019 New Rd., South Bend, IN 46614, Chiara, 1425 Clayton Dr., South Bend, IN 46614 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
