Thelma “Fudge” Klopfenstein, 77, of South Bend, formerly of Walkerton, passed away on Friday January 31 in her residence with her loving family by her side after an extended illness.
Fudge was born on October 2, 1936 in Chicago, IL. to the late Ivo and Thelma I. (Smith) Peddycord.
On September 15, 1956 in North Liberty, as Thelma J. Peddycord she married Dean D. Klopfenstein, who preceded her in death on November 11, 2010.
Fudge was a sales representative for many companies in the lumber industry and she retired from Circle Lumber in South Bend.
Fudge is survived by three daughters; Penny J. (Greg) Lindorf of South Bend, Julie A. (Gene) Miller of South Bend, and Robin J. North of Noblesville, IN., one son; James D. (Rhonda) Klopfenstein of Cicero, IN., five sisters; Joyce E. Egger of Richmond, IN., Nancy I. Sheaks of Walkerton, IN., June R. (John) Everman of Bristol, IN., Betty Lou Peddycord of North Liberty, and Jennifer J. (Roger) Noble of Albion, Nebraska, and two brothers; John Peddycord of South Bend and Michael (Lynn) Peddycord of Mishawaka, IN. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; Stacy (Chad) Paluzzi, Jonathan (Missy) Lindorf, Kyle and Tyler Miller, Austin North, and Nathan and Ashley Klopfenstein, and four great grandchildren, all whom she loved and cherished.
Fudge was preceded in death by her parents Ivo and Thelma, her husband Dean, two sisters; Lou LeeVan and Carol Peddycord, and one brother; Milo Peddycord.
Fudge loved painting, crafts, gardening and sewing. She also wrote articles called “From Our Neck of the Woods” for the Herald Paper in Walkerton.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday February 15th at 3:00 PM at Southfield Village Sanctuary, located at 6450 Miami Rd. South Bend, with Chaplin Robert Puhr officiating. Friends may visit with family prior to service from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM in the Sanctuary at Southfield Village. Cremation has taken place.
Fudge was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother who was cherished by her loving family and all who knew her during her life journey.
