Theresa Auman Obituary

Theresa L. (Schmeltz) Auman of Walkerton passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, July 10th, 2022.

Theresa was born December 7th, 1946, to Linder and Maxine (Clingenpeel) Schmeltz. She was a 1964 graduate of Walkerton High School and was employed for the past 40 years as the Corporate Fleet Administrator with Flexible Foam Products/Innocor, Inc., a foam manufacture.

Theresa is survived by her daughter, Laura (Dave) McKesson, of Walkerton; her son, Jayson (Kimberly) Auman, of North Liberty; grandchildren Kevin (Amber Casteel) Auman of Rossville, GA; Ashley McKesson of Walkerton; Kruz Auman and Hunter Auman, both of Van Wert, Ohio; and  Jacob Wardlow and Julie Auman, both of North Liberty; her sister-in-law, Colleen (Joseph) Kirkbride of Ft. Meyers Beach, FL; her nephew, Andy (April Brandt) Schmeltz of Kalamazoo, MI; her Aunt, Wanda Jones of Michigan City; and numerous cousins, neighbors and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Allen “Toad” Schmeltz and most recently her beloved dog, Bernie.

Theresa loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She was an amazing cook, having learned from her mother, and loved any opportunity to have the family together for a meal. She truly enjoyed attending all of her grandkids’ activities from baseball and basketball games to choir and band performances, and rarely missed an event. She was an avid basketball fan and closely followed both the IU and Michigan State basketball teams, cheering loudly whether in the stands or at home in front of the TV. Theresa loved to travel and would be the first to have her bags packed if a trip was suggested.

Theresa was a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 189 in Walkerton. She had held many offices within the Unit over the years and was currently serving as the Unit’s secretary.
