Thomas (Tom) W. Hartman, 76, of South Bend, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024, from an extended illness.
Tom was born on February 21, 1948, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Clyde and Valburge (Olivier) Hartman. He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Tomas Alvarez.
Tom is survived by his big baby boy Diesel, his daughters, Tracy (Blake) Shroll of Bad Axe, Michigan, Christine Rios of South Bend, Valerie (J Jachimiak) Hartman Jachimiak of South Bend, and Heide Duron of Huntsville, Alabama, also by his sons-in-law, J Jachimiak, Sam Rios and Jeff Thomas both of South Bend. His grandchildren: Tristin Shroll, Abby (Antonio Cruz) Hartman- Rios, Samantha (Nilson Garcia)Rios Garcia, Thomas Rios, Kassandra (Jeremy Duncan) Elkins, Darian Thomas, Chailyn (Brandann Cruz) Thomas, Skylar Thomas, Tyler Cesavice, Jason Dahlberg (Jachimiak), Tiana Thomas, Cyntrecia (Nathanael Harnick) Thomas, Andre Keltz (Jachimiak), Breiann Wiggins, Jaime (Ashton) Duron, Heide (Zachary) Lindzy, Hermosa Wilson, Preciosa Wilson, Miranda Wilson, Aryal (Aaron) Briones and was the great grandfather of 25.
Tom had the biggest heart and would do anything to help any and everyone. The greatest love in his life was spending time with his animals, family and friends. He loved to make people laugh and was good at it. Tom was one of the best diesel mechanics around and always on the road whether it was his career driving truck for Tucker Freight Lines of South Bend among other various companies or just enjoying a nice ride on his motorcycle. He was also an avid NASCAR fan. He was known by most as “Grandpa Tom” or “Pops”.
There will be a private visitation on Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. with cremation to follow. The family will have a celebration of Thomas’ life at a later date.
