Timothy A. Smart

Timothy A. Smart, 55, of South Bend, passed away unexpecting on the evening of Monday, November 18, 2024.

Timothy was born on April 19, 1969, to the late Lewis “Sonny” and Dottie P. (Gilmore) Smart.  He moved to the area 23 years ago from Elkhart.  On September 6, 2003, in South Bend, he married Heidi R. Cooley. 

Timothy had many hobbies.  He was a car enthusiast who enjoyed buying and working on all makes and models.  He was an avid Michigan football fan.  He also enjoyed doing activities outdoors, whether it was jet skiing or playing fast pitch softball.  His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends at gatherings.

Timothy is survived by his loving wife, Heidi R. Smart of South Bend, by his daughters, Shinena Moutria of Elkhart, Mariah Montgomery of Elkhart, Sonny Smart of Elkhart and Jade Smart of South Bend, and by his son, Stacy Smart of Ekhart, along with numerous grandchildren.  He is also survived by his sisters, Marilyn Whittington of Elkhart, and Sandra Bragdon of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a sister, Veronica Smart-Williams whom passed on October 28, 2024.

There will be a funeral service at Noon on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Community Missionary Baptist Church, 228 Chapman Ave., Elkhart, IN 46516, where friends visit with the family for an hour prior to service.  Memorial contributions to honor Timothy may be made to the Pet Refuge, Inc., 4626 S Burnett Dr, South Bend, IN 46614 or to donor’s choice.
