Troy Reiter Obituary

Troy S. Reiter, 53, of Mishawaka, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 8, 2024, in his home.

Troy was born on July 25, 1970, in South Bend to Stephen D. Reiter and Victoria A. (Nijak) Ives.  He grew up in the area and remained a lifelong resident.

Troy proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Desert Storm era.  He was also a former reserve officer for the Walkerton Police Department, and he had interest in becoming a Border Patrol Agent.  He was currently employed by Midwest Gun Exchange in South Bend.

Troy was an outdoorsman who loved to go hunting, fishing and target shooting whenever he could and was a member of the Little Elkhart Conservation Club, the Trout Unlimited Club, and the NRA.   He also had a passion for taking long trips on his motorcycle.  He also enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family and friends.

Troy is survived by his father, Stephen D. Reiter of South Bend, by his mother, Victoria A. Ives of South Bend, by his siblings, Jennifer R. (Shawn) Reiter-Lewis of Fort Wayne, Theresa L. (Tom) Trensey of South Bend and Timothy L. Bruegel of South Bend.  He is also survived by his aunts, Christina Clippinger, Judy Shelato, Joyce Kuras, Linda Reiter, Maria Reiter, and Lori Reiter, and by his uncles, Clark Reiter, Bret Reiter, Tim Reiter, and Kent Reiter, along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Mildred Nijak, by his paternal grandparents, Marion and Jean Reiter, and by his uncle, Thomas Reiter, and by his aunt, Emily Reiter.

Troy will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
