Vesta Jane Huston, 92, who passed away in her home surrounded by her family, left this world to be with the Lord on Monday, November 13, 2023. Born on October 20, 1931, in Osceola, Indiana, Vesta was one of 10 children born to the late Cecil and Lelah Hofferth.
Vesta was preceded in death by her son, Gary Huston. Her siblings, Rex Hofferth, Mary Sippel, and Naomi Truex. She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Richard Huston, her children, Christine Racz (Jory) and Shirley Huston-Findley (Charles). Her grandchildren Ryan Huston (Amy), Jason Huston (Jenny), Danielle Briney, and JR Racz. Vesta was also the proud great-grandmother of Cole Huston, Kate Huston, Drew Huston, Natalie Huston, Hailey Huston, Jacob Huston, Khloe Briney and Braxton Briney. Vesta is also survived by her siblings Ella Mae Mow, Norma Cook, Jack Hofferth (Jan), Lee Hofferth (Barb), Lyle Hofferth (Judy), and Lloyd Hofferth (Nora).
There was never a doubt about the deep love she held for her husband and children, but her true joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren (in honesty any child). Throughout her life she doted on children, whether she was leading the youth group at church, organizing summer bible school, having pool parties, making crafts, shopping with her grandkids, or babysitting into her later years, Vesta always surrounded herself with children. She also loved her church, serving as Lay Leader for several years, heading adult Bible School, and giving tremendously of her time and devotion. That devotion took her to Israel where visiting the Holyland strengthened her connection to the Lord. She also traveled to India and Africa.
A special thank you goes out to Center for Hospice Care for assisting her family in caring for Vesta in her final days.
