Delores June (Dee) Moffitt, age 92, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at Hamilton Grove Retirement Community in New Carlisle.

She was born on June 17, 1923, to Carson and Melba Cauffman.  She graduated from New Carlisle High School in 1942.  On April 11, 1942, she married Richard (Dick) Moffitt. Through the years Delores and Dick enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and camping with their travel trailer at Potato Creek and Indiana Beach.

She is survived by three children:  Connie (Dennis) Hood of Kirkland, IL, Tim (Brenda) Moffitt of New Carlisle, and Cyndi (Scott) Amen of Peebles, OH.  Also surviving are seven grandchildren:  Dennis Jr., Darrin, and Dana Hood, Michelle Boehning, Sacha Amen, and Kelsi and Keegan Moffitt.  Delores also had seven great-grandchildren.

Delores was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister, Phyllis Crowel.

Music was an important part of her life.  She played the piano in the dance band at N.C.H.S. and also played piano and organ at the New Carlisle and Sumption Prairie United Methodist Churches.  She shared her musical talents with those in need at the Hope Rescue Mission in South Bend for many years.

After moving to Hamilton Grove, she continued to share her musical talents as well as volunteer for many activities such as leading groups of “walking buddies”.  She would make a point to visit many of the residents on a daily basis and was recognized with a plaque and special dinner in her honor for her many hours of selfless dedication.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at the Hanley and Sons Funeral Home State Rd 23/W. Ireland Rd., South Bend from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with funeral services following at 1:00 p.m.   Pastor Joe Emmerith will be officiating the service. Burial will follow at the Olive Chapel Cemetery in New Carlisle.
