LeRoy “Bud” Newcomb, Jr., 86 of North Liberty passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Briarcliff Nursing Home, South Bend.
He was born on June 23, 1931 in South Bend to the late LeRoy J. and Madeline (Smith) Newcomb, Sr.
On October 26, 1956 in North Liberty he married Donella J. Kurzhal who survives. He is also survived by his daughters, Laura A. (Jerald) Denton of North Liberty and Sarah J. (Barry) Bottorff of Plymouth; his son, Chris J. (Debbie) Newcomb of North Liberty; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Knepp, Hannah Bottorff and Kyle Denton, six great grandchildren and one sister, Janel Hammaker of Warsaw, IN.
Bud was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Melissa Newcomb and his sister, Marilyn Haase.
He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Pharmacy, while at Purdue he was in the ROTC Program and went into the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant proudly serving his country during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Liberty Drugs, North Liberty where he worked for many years as the Pharmacist. Bud was a member of the NRA, Lakeville Pistol Club and the Indiana Pharmacy Association.
Bud enjoyed fishing, hunting and taking walks in the woods with his beagles. He loved target practicing and was an Expert Marksman. He also loved spending time with his family and grandchildren all whom he loved and cherished.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the North Liberty United Methodist Church. Burial will take place Westlawn Cemetery, North Liberty.
