Delores Jean Dodson, 88, of South Bend, passed away on Wednesday, January 3rd after an extended illness, at Sanctuary at St. Paul’s.

 Jean was born in Ridgeway, IL to the late Alvin R. and Stella (Akers) Bell.

 On August 7, 1949 she married William H. Dodson in Evansville, IN. They lived in the Michiana area for over 60 years coming from Evansville.

 She is survived by her daughter, Vicki L. (Randy) Wishin of South Bend, and seven grandchildren, Wendy, Gail, Amy, Melissa, Larry, Jason and Justin, twenty-four great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren, whom she loved and cherished.

 Jean was preceded in death by her husband, William, her son, Larry J. Dodson and her two sisters, Loyce Bell ad Hazel Woodward.

 She retired from A.M. General, as a receptionist in South Bend, and worked many years at H & R Block.

 Jean was an avid pet lover, enjoyed crafts and especially helping others. Jean loved volunteering with Busy Hands, Red Cross and especially being with her grandchildren. She was a member of the St. Joseph County Republican Party, Retired & Senior Volunteer Program. Jean received 2 Gold and 1 Silver President’s Volunteer Service Awards.

 The family would like all memorial contributions be made in Jean’s name to Busy Hands of Michiana, 702 South Chapin Street, South Bend, IN 46601 or Pet Refuge, 4626 Burnett Drive, South Bend, IN 46614.

 There will no visitation or services. Cremation has taken place.

 The HANLEY and Sons Funeral Home and Cremation Service handled arrangement and extends its deepest sympathy to Jean’s family.

Delores J. Dodson, passed away on 1/2/2019, burial will take place at Highland Cemetery Chapel, Sat., July 20th at 11 AM, following a burial a Celebration of Delores Life will take place at her daughter & son-in-laws Vickie & Randy Wishin's home.

Vicki's Mom, as I always knew her when working with Vicki at PMI and now PSSI, made Christmas fudge for clients for many years. It was always a treat when it would be shared with the employees as well.
